Best Summertime Sandwich

Beef bologna, Wonder bread, mayonnaise and tomatoes make the best summer sandwich. To me it is the original fast food. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and in rural Oklahoma, we didn't have fast food restaurants. I can not even remember how many times I ate this during the summer growing up. My family always had a garden and either myself or one of my siblings would be sent to the garden to pick some tomatoes. Which are best when they are vine ripened and warm. Mayo, bologna and bread were always on hand so lunch could be put together quickly. It is still one of my favorites and brings back a lot of memories.
Share with me your favorite summertime sandwich!
A generous amount of mayonnaise and fresh Wonder bread are a must. American cheese is optional.
Lays potato chips were usually served with the sandwich.
Kool-Aid is a must! How can you beat an ice cold glass of any flavor of Kool-Aid. Strawberry is one of my favorites and I drank gallons of it every summer.

Dutch Oven Pumpkin Crunch

My family and I recently stayed in our travel trailer at the lake. I have been wanting to try Dutch Oven cooking and this was the perfect opportunity. I had bought recipe books and a Dutch oven, read recipes on the internet and even watched a seminar that gave away very tasty  samples.  I decided to try a dessert first, my husband and son both love this Pumpkin Crunch recipe, it would be easy and didn't need alot of  ingredients.
While I charcoaled hamburgers I mixed up my cake.  I melted two sticks of margarine at the same time my hamburgers were cooking.
Mix one can pumpkin, one can evaporated milk, one cup sugar. Whisk in three eggs. Pour into dutch oven. Sprinkle cake mix over pumpkin mixture. Drizzle melted butter over cake mix.
I placed the dutch oven on 8-10 briquets and 13-15 the top of the lid. I found this is definitely  not an exact science. I check it every 15 minutes and rotated the pot. It was ready in 30 minutes. It turned out very good. The possibilities are endless of what you could prepare.  I plan to try more recipes in the backyard in our fire pit, to be ready for the next time we go camping. Chocolate Gravy

This is a family favorite and has been requested from my children for special occasions and birthdays. Sorry to say it has no nutritional value but it is delicious and a breeze to make. I will be posting this to Tempt my Tummy Tuesday and Foodie Friday.

Ingredients:
2/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons cocoa
2 Tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Melt butter in a skillet over a medium heat.
While butter is melting, mix sugar, flour and cocoa.
Pour into melted butter. Stir.
Add milk and cook until thick. Add vanilla.
Posted by PicasaServe immediately over biscuits.

Sliced bananas go great with the gravy. You could also spread peanut butter on your open biscuits before adding the chocolate gravy.
